Marc Jacobs has come out with a brand new cologne for men. It’s his first for men in over 10 years!

BANG! And the bottle is pretty cool too! (It’s supposed to look like it got hit by a bullet.) It smells pretty good too (I got a rushed bottle of it pre-release!) Definitely very manly and powerful… Pretty sure wearing it makes you smell like sex, power and money. In my expert advice, spray it on an hour or so before you go out… let it drop some of the intensity first before taking the world (and women?) by storm.

Now because Marc Jacobs thinks I’m pretty cool, I’ve got a full sized bottle of BANG that I’m going to give away on October 1st!

Here he is… James Jay Lee. 34 years old and possible from British Columbia, BC.

In 2008, he was charged with littering for throwing what police said were thousands of dollars worth of bills at a crowd that grew after Lee began paying people to participate.

Are off your rocker?  Is this just a big joke?  The planets problems are the Discovery Channels fault?  How about NBC, or CBS, or anyone else?  They don’t broadcast stuff that is good for the environment.  Why not shut down every TV and radio station that doesn’t provide 100% of their airtime to “solutions”?  Can you tell me a national TV station that you wouldn’t protest?  I agree that we need to do more things to help the environment, but let’s try to use our resources a little more productively, shall we?

Lee, you are one crazy dude.  I think it’s time to get off your soap box now.

I am 100% serious. And yes, the other networks are also to blame. But these guys are the worst because they act like they are environmentalist when in truth, they are arms dealers.

We’ll get them one at a time.

It’s EVERYONE’s responsibility to save the planet, ESPECIALLY a hypocritical network like the Discovery Channel!

Fan Expo was this weekend. For those who don’t know, Fan Expo is the largest “Nerd” event in Canada covering everything from Sci-Fi, to comics, to anime, to gaming and horror. It draws tens of thousands to meet their favourite actors (this year included William Shatner, Adam West, Ernest Borgnine, Burt Ward, Julie Newmar, Summer Glau, Felicia Day and more), favourite comic book artists (including Stan Lee and Gary Frank) and get a more personal look at some of the things coming down the pipes (Tron: Legacy, Halo: Reach).

It’s also a huge event to buy any kind of fan items you could ever want! From comic books and action figures, to original art, costumes, games, photos, and more! Really it is pretty amazing everything it brings together.

One of the unusual and unique things about this kind of event is the crowd, which in itself becomes an attraction. I saw Star Trek officers, Sailor Moon, Pikachu, Sonic the Hedgehog, Storm Troopers, Wookies, Iron Man, Superman, Spiderman, someone called Deadpool, Wolverine, Cloud, Cobra Commander, Titus, Rikku and tons of other characters from popular (and no so popular) games, movies, comics and TV shows! It was wild.

My time at Fan Expo was great. However, the event didn’t go off without any issues. Saturday especially was chaotic. The event organizers oversold the event and the Fire Marshall shut the doors to any new people (including those who’d purchased in advance, and those who went out for a smoke break or to get food.)

Escalators had to be policed because of the sheer number of people who were on each floor. Outside, those in line (in the heavy humidity and heat) chanted ‘Refund! Refund!’ There was even a rumour I overheard that riot police were being called in, though I wasn’t able to confirm that rumour.

Overall, I think there’s a lot of things the organizers did well, and a lot they need to improve on. But fortunately for them, the next FanExpo isn’t for another year. So they’ll have lots of time to fix the errors.

(If they don’t… well, in that case, it’s time for someone else to take over as the biggest “Nerd” event in Canada!)

I got the opportunity to talk to Carmen from FOX about the upcoming release of the Alien Anthology on Blu Ray. There’s a ton of content that’s included… and for a great set of movies! They are released on October 26th and had a really cool “Fan Expo” pack… if you stop by, you may want to consider preordering it there!

PS. If FOX wants to send me a copy (or two so I can give one away!) I’d be more than willing! Haha. I know Carmen said she’d read my blog… and knowing that I would post something, hopefully she comes back, sees this and maybe she can arrange something.

As part of the promotion, they brought a replica of the Nostromo’s hibernation chamber for people to experience. There’s some motion involved, a lot of loud sound, and a screen that shows a nice overview of the movies. The replica’s are only being used here and at Comicon a month ago – so it’s pretty special.

Also… here’s video from inside the replica hibernation chamber. It’s not the full experience… but you get the idea. Does this make me a pirate? If Fox wants me to take it down I will. Lol.

What a great time I had last night at the Labatt Beer Institute! I was holding a contest for two spots to join me there and while the second winner couldn’t make it @GavinThompson did, and I think we both agreed – the place was incredible.

Let me give you a bit of a floor plan so you can imagine it… The “Classroom” sits over a larger section of the building kind of like a loft with glass windows all around both looking into the building and out to the waterfront. You step in and are greeted by a room filled with Kegs.

You naturally turn right and are greeted by a large white bar with every ABInBev (which is the current name of the company but consists of several merged companies included Anheuser-Busch(AB), Interbrew (In), AmBev (Bev).

Just to give a rundown of some of their more well known beers, they include Stella Artois, Beck’s, Budweiser, Leffe, Brahma, Hoegaarden, Labatt, Alexander Keith’s, Bass, Busch, Kokanee, O’Doul’s.

Also, don’t be surprised to see in the future that Corona becomes part of them… I learned that they own 50% of Grupo Modelo who brew Corona.

Beer decor, obviously, filled the place. A fireplace sat to the side of the Kokanee Lounge where comfortable chairs and a beautiful waterfront view made the lounge the kind of place you could sit for hours.

In the middle of the room was a very large picnic table that just begged to be sat on. They really had this place feeling relaxed and fun! Then I met one of my followers (totally unexpected) @LorneJack! Very nice guy, so give him a follow to get him over 35 followers!!

But first, we were forced (ha) to drink their newest beer, Alexander Keith’s Light Ale. It was actually very tasty. Their marketing plan for the beer (yeah I’m a marketing nerd, I love this stuff) was to build it more grassroots. Unlike Bud Light Lime or other beers where they “Advertise the shit out of it and plaster every single billboard and TV ad” they want this beer to grow out of word of mouth.

Which I think it will. I enjoyed it quite a bit!

After downing it, I grabbed my favourite, a Stella.

Now, with beer in hand, it was time for the class part of the event.

Two very amateurish powerpoint presentation with way too many words and our two hosts who were reading the content line for line. Again, this comes back to my marketing background… I hate powerpoint when you use it as a crutch and not as a supporting visual.

Oh well, I still managed to learn a lot! Such as bubbles sticking to the side of a glass means the glass is dirty. In the photo below, you can see this (it was wiped with a piece of pepperoni). Oh yeah, did I mention they brought in a half dozen pizzas for us? It wasn’t Boston Pizza… so I won’t mention where they were from haha.

Next time you have a Budweiser, smell it… it smells like Bananas! That shit is bananas!

Also, head on a beer helps to relieve stomach gasses which let’s you actually drink more beer!

Then the fun. We were free to drink whatever beers we wanted, pour whatever we wanted! I tried a little bit of everything and learned I dislike Boddington’s and Bud Light Lime… and I really enjoyed Stella Artois Legere!

There was a entertainment section with fusbol, an xbox, pool table, poker table, darts… basically anything game wise you could ever want!

Mixed and mingled with the other people who were there (about 30) and met the GM of the Foggy Dew. I’ve never been there, but definitely going to try and make it sometime!

After several more beers (and me being a lightweight and tipsy, yeah I’ve no issue with admitting it!) it was time to call it a night.

What a great experience though! Free beer, food, entertainment, some learning (including proper pouring methods) and a bunch of other good things to know. Really want to thank both @cdot_in_tdot and the Labatt Beer Institute for the opportunity to partake in the night! Thanks again!

And those who missed it… gotta be more proactive guys! This stuff is awesome! haha.
