Gil LeBreton says Canadians are Nazis

In case you missed this article earlier, Gil LeBreton a Texan reporter for the Star-Telegram compared Canadian patriotism to Nazi Germany, going as far as saying the Maple Leaf was the Nazi Swastika and a hockey jersey the uniform. It’s a sick article from what is clearly a very sick man.

I’m calling on both the Star-Telegram and Gil LeBreton to issue an apology to both Vancouver and Canadians. I’ve emailed their executives and encourage you to do the same. Below you’ll find all the corporate email addresses ready to be copy and pasted into an email, and also the message I used. Feel free to take mine as is, or modify it to your preference.

This kind of sickening, hateful and vile message should not be tolerated.

Dear Star Telegram Executives,

I demand a public apology from both Gil Lebreton and from the Star-Telegram to both Vancouver and the people of Canada.

Comparing Canadians to Nazis, the 2010 Olympics to the 1936 Olympics, and the Maple Leaf to the Nazi Swastika is vile, heinous, ignorant and despicable!

It’s an insult to the memories of every single World War II veteran and victim and runs contrary to the spirit of the Olympics.

This kind of hate inspired article has no place in this world.

    I know Americans are ignorant of Canada and anybody but themselves, but the article by Gil LeBreton is the worst thing an American has ever said about their neighbour, who tries to support them, no matter what the world thinks of them. For a country with a small amount of people compared to the US we have produced many talented peoiple, and have always been overshadowed by the the US. I love having the US as my neighbour, but there is a reason when we go abroad and we are asked are you and American and we say no we are Canadian and they smile!!!

    Honestly. . .they have been worse in every way propaganda wise! what is wrong with Canadian national pride when they do it every fuckin day?! The Super Bowl showed more of the Americans doing the cock walk in 4 hours than our 2 weeks of olympics. Plus i watched NBC coverage of Vancouver and it was near impossible to even see a Canadian on it. Personally. . . they can eat my ass! just jealous we got more golds than them in an olympics

    Claus – I’ve joined the group! It’s exploding! Hopefully he get’s some sort of punishment for it besides a simple apology.

    Larry – The US suffers from an over inflated ego at the moment. From the people I’ve talked to, they don’t really learn things about things outside the United States. The consensus from the people I’ve talked to, is it’s name all the presidents before it’s name 5 European countries.

    AD – It’s not a US vs Canada thing. That’s not what this post is about. It’s a Canada + US vs Gil LeBreton. He’s the real enemy in this. His writing is ultimately giving his fellow Texans a bad wrap, and I know they aren’t to thrilled with him because of it.
